Assistant Genetics Technologist – Band 3

Salary - £17,787 - £20,448 per annum.

2 year fixed term

Bristol Genetics Laboratory (BGL) is looking to recruit two fixed term posts (two years) to assist the laboratory in providing additional support for the expansion of Oncology services.

We are a large, well-equipped laboratory and for both posts, duties will include technical investigations for a range of genetics referrals including DNA and RNA extraction, sample processing, and PCR testing.

Applicants will be expected to possess a minimum of 2 A levels, preferably in science and to have some experience of laboratory work, good basic IT skills (data entry, Word, Excel) and should also be aware of patient confidentiality issues.

BGL is committed to the provision of high quality training at all levels, through Modernising Scientific Careers programmes (STP, PTP and HSST and developing apprenticeships at CF2-4 roles).

The successful candidate will be expected to work 37½ hours per week full-time, including participation in out of hours working including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.
