Wheelchair Therapy Assistant: Wheelchair and Special Seating Service.
The Bristol Centre for Enablement provides a range of specialist services from its base at Cribbs Causeway to the north of Bristol. These services cover prosthetics, orthotics, wheelchairs and specialist seating services, electronic assistive technology and communication aids service.
We are currently looking for an assistant to join the Wheelchair and Special Seating Service clinical team. This will involve the delivery and fitting of equipment to wheelchairs and other related equipment, preparation of equipment, stock control and organisation of demonstration equipment.
The Wheelchair and Special Seating Service offers assessment and supply of wheelchairs, special seating and associated accessories to those clients referred to the service. This can include all age groups, for clients simple to highly complex disabilities. This service is delivered by a team of, Therapists, Rehabilitation Engineers, support staff and administrators.
You will be required to communicate and assist the team and have contact with a large range of people both healthcare professionals and wider clinical team to provide support in a clinical situation to clients with a wide range of disabilities.
You may be required to travel in the area covered by the service and visit clients in their own homes, schools, hospitals etc.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic motivated individual with excellent organisational and communication skills and an enthusiasm to support the clinical team in essential service delivery. Experience of working within the NHS or other health care settings is desirable however the specialist skills can be learned.
Car driver is essential.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
