NORTH BRISTOL NHS TRUST

Clinical Fellow (SpR level) in Knee Surgery

We wish to appoint to our Clinical Fellow in Knee Surgery post for February 2020 for 6 months only. The posts are based at Avon Orthopaedic Centre at Southmead Hospital. The post holder will be required to work flexibly within the department. Advanced experience in lower limb arthroplasty and recent trauma experience is required for this post.

The post is aimed at Registrars wishing to gain fellowship experience in both knee arthroplasty and soft tissue reconstruction. A requirement of this post is to have submitted one peer review paper during the fellowship.

The appointment is based within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at North Bristol NHS Trust. Both the Trauma & Elective services are provided at the newly built Southmead Hospital. The Avon Orthopaedics Centre, Southmead Hospital, is the main elective orthopaedic unit in Bristol and one of the Regional Specialist Orthopaedic Centres in the UK. Approximately 1000 knee arthroplasty procedures replacements and over 250 ACL reconstructions are performed annually.

The North Bristol Orthopaedic Department currently delivers patient care to the catchment area of approximately 500,000 (pop.), which is expanding. The Trust is a regional centre of Neurosurgery and Plastic Surgery. A tertiary referral service for the South West for pelvic and acetabular fractures and for spinal injuries and deformities is provided.

Candidates must have, or be eligible for, GMC registration that allows them to work in posts that are not recognised for training. If in a training post this post is recognised for off programme training. Successful candidates will undergo training appraisal and assessment.

It is desirable that candidates have experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or an equivalent system.

Salary Range: £31,841 - £50,068 per annum.
