Clinical Fellow in Advanced Hip Surgery

North Bristol Trust is looking to appoint a Clinical Fellow in Advanced Hip Surgery commencing February 2018 for a 6 month post.

This post has predominantly clinical commitments with an opportunity for research within an excellent University department with a proven track record. This is a really exciting opportunity to be part of a specialist team and deliver high quality care within a breath-taking new facility and deliver direct patient care within our state of the art theatres.  Full Registration with the GMC is essential. The posts are based at Southmead. The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential.  Whilst the posts are not formally recognised for training and do not have postgraduate deanery approval, they are educationally sound and well supported.

Orthopaedic services including elective procedures are provided at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre (AOC) at the Brunel Building, Southmead Hospital. The AOC provides the main elective orthopaedic service for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire and also hosts inpatient surgery for University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Healthcare Trust. Five theatres run all days six days a week with 28 consultants operating here. The local catchment population is approximately 500,000 but specialist services are also offered more widely across the region. The foot and ankle service covers all aspects of foot and ankle care and accepts tertiary referrals from a wide region.

Candidates must have, or be eligible for, GMC registration that allows them to work in posts that are not recognised for training. If in a training post this post is recognised for off programme training. Successful candidates will undergo training, appraisal and assessment. It is desirable that candidates have experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent.

Please note North Bristol NHS Trust will not pay interview expenses or relocation expenses in connection with this post. Late applications will not be accepted.
