We are recruiting to the role of an in-house Solicitor (Band 7), to replace the current postholder who will be leaving the Trust in November 2021.
The role is a full time post. This role provides essential legal support and advice as part of a dedicated in-house legal service in response to healthcare litigation, clinical negligence, personal injury and staff claims.
The role requires the postholder to undertake factual investigation of clinical and non-clinical claims, draft legal documentation taking account of relevant legislation and case law, review evidence for and attend the Coroner’s Court and provide healthcare legal advice on a wide range of topics.
As such applicants must be a fully qualified solicitor/ILEX with a minimum of one year’s post qualification experience, specialising in medical negligence or personal injury claims. They must also be a member of the appropriate professional body e.g. Law Society/ Bar Council/Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX/FILEX) and maintain a current practising certificate/ professional body registration in line with the bodies requirements.
The role will report to the Trust’s Consultant Solicitor within the litigation and claims team and provides an excellent opportunity to enhance your skills and knowledge across a broad portfolio of cases and advisory work, within a busy and supportive working environment.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
