We have an exciting opportunity for a band 7 specialist safeguarding practitioner to join the North Bristol NHS Trust safeguarding team.
The successful applicant will be an experienced professional who has a good understanding of the legal frameworks underpinning safeguarding practice, and has experience of working in health and social care settings in a safeguarding role or within a complex health/social care setting. You will be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to provide specialist support and guidance to all colleagues across the hospital divisions.
Under the direction of the head of safeguarding and named nurse for child safeguarding it will be the responsibility of the specialist safeguarding practitioner to ensure thorough and clear administrative processes around day to day safeguarding activity including advice, data collection, safeguarding incident reviews and reporting. It will be required for the post holder to manage a robust policy framework in relation to legislation, national policy and local guidance with support from the named nurses for adult and children.
The specialist safeguarding practitioner will provide regular and consistent advice around safeguarding training requirements and will be responsible for delivering the training in conjunction with the named nurses and trust training lead.
The post holder will have practical knowledge around MCA/DoLS and be aware of the change in legislation to Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS).

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
