Clinical Research Fellow in Respiratory Disease

Fixed Term 3 year contract - from 1st August 2019

We wish to appoint a full time Clinical Research Fellow in Respiratory Disease from August 2019.

The post is educationally sound and well supported, with excellent opportunities for gaining experience and training in research. The post-holder is expected to undertake a body of research work in pleural disease with a view to submitting for a PhD thesis (with the University of Bristol) at the end of the study period. There is also likely to be the opportunity to publish a series of peer reviewed original papers in quality respiratory journals, as well as the possibility of training in clinical trials methodology and medical statistics.

This post will also entail regular attendance at the dedicated weekly pleural clinic and procedure list. Pleural patients are also seen regularly on an ad-hoc basis. Opportunities will be provided for specialist training in medical thoracoscopy, indwelling pleural catheter (PleurX) insertion, and advanced thoracic ultrasound.

Applicants should have current experience in Respiratory Medicine at SpR level. Full Registration with the GMC is essential. The post is based at Southmead Hospital. The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential.

Salary Range:  £35,093 - £48,123
