We want to recruit an energetic and innovative colleague to a consultant post in the Renal and Transplant Directorate in Bristol, based in the newly opened £450 million Brunel building at Southmead Hospital. We are a specialist tertiary referral centre treating patients with all aspects of kidney disease and provide a comprehensive suite of renal replacement therapies including transplantation to almost 1500 patients. We have the second largest use of satellite and home haemodialysis in the country.  We have a growing programme of ABOi/HLAi renal transplantation and are a designated centre for pancreatic islet implantation.  Applicants with a sub-specialist interest in peritoneal dialysis will be particularly welcome although other sub-specialist interests will also be encouraged. The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England.  There are close links with the Academic Department of Renal Medicine and the UK Renal Registry.

Applicants are required to be on the Specialist Register or have a CCT in Renal Medicine or be within six months of obtaining it by the interview date. Full Registration with the GMC is essential.  The post is based at Brunel, Southmead Hospital. The appointee will be required to reside not more than 30 minutes travel by road from the hospital for on-call purposes.  Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential.  The successful candidate will be employed under Terms & Conditions of Service for Consultants (England) 2003.
