Clinical Fellow in Brain Injury Rehabilitation (ST1/2 level)

This post is a six month appointment with the possibility of a six month extension

To commence on 9th July 2018

Applications are invited for a highly motivated Clinical Fellow in Brain Injury Rehabilitation based at the Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, situated in the grounds of Frenchay Hospital on the outskirts of the cosmopolitan city of Bristol.

This is a full time six month locum appointment for 40 hours per week, 9am-5pm Monday – Friday, with the need for occasional flexibility.   There is no on-call commitment.

This 52 bedded Centre, on the Frenchay Hospital site, is highly reputable and is the Level 1 service for the south-west & peninsula offering rehabilitation for adolescent and adult patients with complex acquired neurological injuries and may include patients with a tracheostomy or challenging behaviour. Planned expansion of the service was completed in 2017.

At present there are two junior doctors attached to the team (Clinical Fellows) and a part-time Specialty Doctor, with plans to commence a registrar training post in August 2018 to complement the medical team.

The Clinical Fellow is encouraged to play an active role in all aspects of the assessment and management of patients. The particular role of the Clinical Fellow is to provide continuity of medical care, day to day management of the in-patient service, report preparation and close liaison with the Centre’s highly skilled inter-disciplinary team. The Centre has three Consultants; Dr A Graham & Dr Crossman, Consultants in Neurological Rehabilitation, Dr J Herrod, Consultant in Neuropsychiatry. Dr J Holloway is the Medical Director. The post holder will have close working relationships with the acute neurosciences services and full access to postgraduate activities.

North Bristol NHS Trust is the largest Trust in the South West region. It has University Teaching status and is linked with both the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England.

Applicants must hold full registration with the GMC. In addition, experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential.
