Consultant in Radiology with Sub-Specialty Interest in Thoracic Imaging


Applications are invited to apply for a Part Time / Full Time Consultant in Radiology with a sub-specialty interest in Thoracic Imaging.

North Bristol NHS Trust is the largest hospital trust in the South West, providing hospital and community healthcare to the residents of Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. We are also a specialist regional centre for a number of services including Vascular, Urology, Neurosurgery, Renal, Plastics, Burns, Orthopaedics and we are also the Major Trauma Centre for the South West Region. Our state-of-the-art Brunel Building is one of the most modern hospitals in Europe and we have a strong international reputation for clinical excellence.

The postholder will be part of the thoracic radiology team, currently 3 subspecialty radiologists, and also provide support for cardiac CT imaging to meet NICE guidelines. Provision of ultrasound and CT guided thoracic intervention will be required and help with the neck biopsy service would be desirable. MDT provision is provided by the team with all members involved on a rotational basis. The team work in close collaboration with the respiratory department comprising 10 consultants with plans for significant expansion in the next 2 years. The thriving University of Bristol academic respiratory unit, headed by Professor Maskell, currently has an academic clinical lecturer, 4 PhD clinical fellows, 2 ACFs and 2 Academic foundations and is recruiting to 15 trials across the subspecialties.

There will also be a commitment to Emergency Radiology and the General Radiology on-call rota (1 in 18).

Individuals wishing to apply must be registered with General Medical Council (with a licence to practice) and on the Specialist Register or be eligible to be on the Specialist Register within six months of the date of the Advisory Appointments Committee.
