SPECIATY DOCTOR IN PLASTIC SURGERY

North Bristol NHS Trust is one of the largest acute hospital Trusts within the country with approximately 800 beds and employing more than 8,000 staff and with a turnover of £550 million. The Trust provides hospital and community healthcare to residents based within Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset of around 900,000 people and is based in the Brunel Building, one of the most advanced hospitals in Europe offering state-of-the-art care in a beautiful and purpose built environment, designed with the patient’s privacy and dignity in mind.
Applications are invited for the post of Specialty Doctor within the Plastic Department. The postholder will be joining a friendly, motivated and busy department. This is a full time appointment for 10 programmed activities (40 hours) per week and will be part of the departmental on call rota. The post will be based at Southmead Hospital and Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
NBT at Southmead has a Major Trauma Centre accreditation and a range of allied surgical and medical specialities work with the Plastic team.
This post will involve working with the team of 14 Plastic Surgery Consultants, and 6 Burns Consultants who offer a Plastic Surgery service to patients from the northern part of the South – West region. The work of the department covers a wide range of both congenital and acquired conditions including skin cancer, hand surgery, lower limb trauma, breast reconstruction, head and neck malignancies, burns service and laser therapy.
Applicants must hold full registration with the GMC. In addition applicants should have completed at least four years full time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in plastic surgery at registrar level, or as a fixed term specialty training programme in plastic surgery at registrar level, or shall have equivalent experience and competencies. The applicant should have experience in diagnosing and treatment of skin cancer, plastic surgery trauma and burns injuries.
