An exciting senior opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Matron, Band 8a, to join our Centralised Outpatients, Interventional Radiology and Anticoagulation Monitoring Service (AMS) Teams within the Core Clinical Services Division based in the state of the art Brunel building at Southmead Hospital.
The post holder will be part of the Divisional Senior Management Team and will participate in business planning, delivery, service improvement and will provide senior clinical leadership.
Southmead Hospital is a tertiary centre for neurology, renal and is the major trauma centre for the south west region.
The Centralised Outpatients service consists of a team of Registered and Unregistered Staff, who carry out a range of specialist skills to support the diverse nature of these clinics, comprising of, visual fields, renal phlebotomy and GFR testing, spirometry, venesection and compression bandaging.
Interventional Radiology (IR) comprises of 4 interventional labs and 2 cardiac cath labs. The IR labs host a wide and varied number of specialities ranging from, Neurovascular/ spinal/ vascular/ non vascular/ urology/ endoscopy/ cardiology/renal and GI, and operates between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday and offers a full on call service 24 hour 7 day a week service for vascular/ non vascular and trauma.
The 2 cardiac cath labs support daycase and inpatient cardiac angiography and stent insertion and is staffed by a team of registered nurses who rotate through the daycase unit.
As Matron, you will be leading the 110 Whole Time Equivalent nursing teams and will be responsible for staff recruitment, training and development, e-rostering and personnel issues to ensure the delivery of a safe and effective service, working closely with the Band 7 nurses.
There are currently exciting developments being planned in the Outpatients and Interventional Radiology services and the successful candidate will be required to support the implementation and delivery of these projects in conjunction with the Divisional Senior Team.
Centralised Outpatients received Good across the board in the CQC inspection carried out in November 2017, Interventional Radiology was named as NBT Team of the Year at the NBT Director of Nursing Awards 2018 and the Trust’s VTE service supported by the Anticoagulation Monitoring Service has achieved Exemplar Status which was awarded in October 2017.
