FIXED TERM CONSULTANT NEUROSURGEON WITH SPECIALIST INTEREST IN DBS

We are working together to create the environment for exceptional healthcare – our acute services moved into the brand new, £430 million state of the art Brunel Building in May 2014. This 800 bed hospital at the Southmead site offers some patients single rooms with en-suite facilities, greatly improving privacy and dignity and helping to control the spread of infections. At the heart of what we do is a caring and compassionate workforce.

Applications are invited for a fixed term consultant neurosurgeon at the North Bristol NHS trust, supporting the development and increased demand on functional neurosurgery services. The post will be full time for 12 months, 10 PA contract contributing to the 12 consultant neurosurgeon on call rota. The elective practice will focus on Deep Brain Stimulation surgery.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the DBS MDT on a weekly basis.

Qualifications for the post will include the neurosurgical fellowship and / or the European

equivalent. The successful candidate will need to have the necessary experience of deep brain stimulation surgery.

 

Full Registration with the GMC is essential. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential. The post is based at Southmead Hospital. The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England.  The appointee will be required to reside not more than 30 minutes travel by road from Southmead Hospital, Bristol, for on-call purposes. The successful candidate will be employed under Terms & Conditions of Service for Consultants (England) 2003.

Salary Range: £79,860 - £107,668
