An exciting opportunity has arisen for a substantive Consultant Neuropsychiatrist (10PA) at North Bristol Trust. North Bristol NHS Trust is the largest Trust in the South West and one of the largest in the UK.

North Bristol NHS Trust’s Neuropsychiatry Service is based at The Rosa Burden Centre, on the Southmead Hospital campus, Bristol.  The Centre provides specialist outpatient and inpatient care for patients who have complex neuro-psychiatric clinical presentations which require a flexible person-centered approach and innovative management.

As part of the Trust’s Neuroscience and Musculoskeletal (NMSK) Directorate, the centre works closely with the Neurology, Neurosurgical, Neurophysiology and Neuropsychology specialties in delivering seamless pathways of care to patients with neuropsychiatric, neurological and neurosurgical presentations. As part of this role, the service provides a neuro-psychiatric liaison service to the acute wards within the trust.

The service provides assessment and management for the following conditions:

  • Neuropsychiatric aspects of neurodevelopmental disorders and epilepsy including the Epilepsy Surgery Programme.
  • Functional Neurological & Somatoform disorders (including non-epileptic attack disorder)
  • Neuropsychiatric aspects of brain injury, cognitive problems and dementia.
  • Neuropsychiatric presentations of neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease or Multiple Sclerosis.
  • Complex sleep disorders.

Applicants are required to be on the Specialist Register for Psychiatry, have CCT in Psychiatry or be within six months of obtaining it by the interview date. Alternatively the applicant must be eligible for entry on to the GMC Specialist Register following appropriate previous training/experiences. Full Registration with the GMC is essential. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential.

Salary scale YC72: £76,761 to £103,490 per annum
