An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Band 7 Specialist Nurse to join the established Cognitive Disorder Team based at The Brain Centre at Southmead Hospital. You will be working with a multidisciplinary team to provide care to patients with Cognitive Disorders. We are looking for an organised, hard-working, dedicated nurse who is willing to develop and embed the role of Cognitive Nurse Specialist within this team.
You will be expected to run nurse-led clinics, lead a telephone advice line providing information and medication reviews and perform patient assessments and procedures as required. You will be a dynamic, enthusiastic, innovative and committed nurse who has experience of working with patients with Cognitive Disorders.
You will have worked within a multidisciplinary team and also have the initiative and confidence to work autonomously as required. You will work along side a team of Consultants to provide the best standards of evidence - based care. You will display excellent communication skills with patients, their families and colleagues - verbally and written.  This will include liaison with local services and healthcare professionals to strengthen communication between tertiary and secondary dementia services. You will provide education and support to patients, relatives/carers, medical, neurology and nursing staff on the subject of cognitive disorders. The department has an existing Research department and the successful candidate will be expected to engage with both research and audit.
In addition, to the Cognitive Disorder Team, you will be part of the large Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Specialist Nurse Team within the Neurological and Musculoskeletal Sciences Division.
NB: To complete this role at a Band 7 you will need a PACA and PADRAP course however,   if the successful candidate doesn't have these the role will commence as a Band 6 and on successful completion of these two modules promotion to a Band 7 will occur.
