This post forms part of a core group of therapy staff based in the Elgar Centre or on the Specialist Medicine wards at North Bristol NHS Trust. The post-holder will undertake the physiotherapy reviews, reablement of the complex care patients on these wards.

Main duties of the job
To provide independent assessment and treatment of assessed complex care patients under the supervision of a registered Physiotherapist. To progress exercise programmes and work with the MDT to ensure patients are on a safe and timely discharge pathway. To complete administrative tasks including onward referrals, audit, equipment ordering and completion of statistics.

The Elgar Centre comprises of 2 wards. Our patients are initially acutely medically treated inside the Brunel building and transfer to Elgar for on-going care.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Providing patient reviews as part of protocol based rehabilitation after joint replacement surgery. Progressing mobility and exercises for complex care patients. Taking screened patients from initial assessment to discharge under supervision. Completing physiotherapy referrals. Ordering and organising equipment. Teaching new staff and supervising other support workers.
- Evidence of higher level apprenticeship, foundation degree or equivalent clinical experience
- Evidence of a continued desire to learn and develop self.
- Experience of healthcare environment
- Experience working as therapy support worker
- Knowledge of role and relevant skills required
- Ability to prioritise workloads
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- An empathetic attitude towards patients
- Awareness of impact of covid pandemic on staff, patients, self
