Severn Infection Sciences is a partnership between North Bristol NHS Trust and Public Health England and is sited at Southmead Hospital, Bristol. It is the largest diagnostic infection service in the South West of England. It provides analytical, clinical or infection control services to three large Trusts in Bristol, Bath, and surrounding primary care practitioners.
An opportunity has arisen for a full time Consultant in Infection (Medical Microbiology) to join the proactive team of infection specialists in the department of Infection Sciences based at Southmead hospital . The post holders will contribute to the general infection service at North Bristol NHS Trust and may take on leadership roles in specialist areas. Previous experience in Infection Control leadership and management at a senior level in NHS would be advantageous. Our department has a harmonious relationship with the Infectious Diseases physicians and we work together to deliver comprehensive Infection services and training.
Applicants are required to be on the Specialist Register for Medical Microbiology (or Medical microbiology with Infectious Diseases) and have CCT or be within six months of obtaining it by the interview date. Full Registration with the GMC is essential. The post is based at Southmead Hospital. The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. The appointee will ordinarily be required to reside not more than 30 minutes travel by road from Southmead Hospital, Bristol, for on-call purposes and attend on site for weekends on call. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential. The successful candidate will be employed under Terms & Conditions of Service for Consultants (England) 2003.
