Consultant Interventional Radiologist
(FULL TIME, 10 PAs)
Applications are invited to apply for a Full Time only Consultant in Interventional Radiology with a sub-specialty interest in Vascular Imaging and Intervention.
North Bristol NHS Trust is the largest hospital trust in the South West, providing hospital and community healthcare to the residents of Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. We are also a specialist regional centre for a number of services including Vascular, Urology, Neurosurgery, Renal, Plastics, Burns, Orthopaedics and we are also the Major Trauma Centre for the South West Region. Our state-of-the-art Brunel Building is one of the most modern hospitals in Europe and we have a strong international reputation for clinical excellence.
If you are from outside the area, Bristol is consistently voted as one of the best places to live in the UK, with a rich history, thriving arts, music, gastronomic and independent retails scenes, excellent transport links and easy access to the spectacular countryside and coastlines of South Wales, Devon, Dorset and Cornwall.
The successful applicant will join an enthusiastic team of 5 full-time IR Consultants and participate in a 1:6 IR on-call rota covering Vascular and non-Vascular interventions. The department enjoys close working relationships with Vascular Surgery, Urology and a wide range of other surgical and medical specialities. Core skill set will include nephrostomy drainage, embolization for haemorrhage control and endovascular interventions for peripheral vascular disease. Experience with EVAR is desirable. Interests in gastro-intestinal interventional radiology would be welcome with a growing demand for these procedures. Similarly North Bristol NHS Trust performs around 100 PCNLs per annum and previous experience of the management of complex renal stone disease would be an advantage. There is also an increasing practice of CT guided renal cryoablation. General reporting sessions within the job plan may include a mix of CT, MRI, plain film and ultrasound work as well as procedural radiology. A commitment to cross-sectional imaging, with interest in emergency radiology is expected.
Individuals wishing to apply must be registered with General Medical Council (with a licence to practice) and on the Specialist Register or be eligible to be on the Specialist Register within six months of the date of the Advisory Appointments Committee.
