We wish to appoint a Senior Clinical Fellow in Histopathology (Haematopathology) to start as soon as possible for a period of 12 months.

Working as part of a specialist team presents an excellent opportunity gain a broad range of  experience in all aspects of Haematopathology.

The Haematopathology team is an integral member of the Bristol Haemato-Oncology Diagnostic Service developed to provide an integrated diagnostic process for investigation and reporting of peripheral blood, bone marrow, lymph node and other tissue samples investigated for the presence of haematological malignancy from around the South West region. This forms the regional specialist integrated haematological malignancy diagnostic service (SIHMDS) serving a regional population of 5 million.

The scope of the work is complex and, as well as routine biopsies and bone marrow trephines, includes post-transplant bone marrow, GvHD specimens and a significant referral caseload, both external and from other specialist teams in the department including paediatric haemato-oncology.

You will be expected to take an active part in the Haematopathology specialist team in a manner which complements the needs of the service and will work under supervision. Specifically, this will include reporting bone marrow trephines (which form the bulk of the workload) in conjunction with fine needle aspirates and flow cytometry performed on lymph node biopsies. There is active involvement in evaluation of clinically urgent cases and communications with the clinical teams.  The appointee will be expected to rotate in the haematology lab, molecular and flow cytometry lab for a month

Salary will be either on Nodal Point 4 or 5 depending on experience: £49,036 - £52,036

Please note, North Bristol NHS Trust does not pay for interview expenses.
