Applications are invited for the post of Assistant General Manager for General Surgery and Breast Services within the Division of Anaesthesia, Surgery, Critical Care and Renal.

 

North Bristol NHS Trust is the largest Trust in the South-West region and provides medical, surgical and maternity care for a population of approximately half a million people in the North Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset areas.  Last year the Trust treated over 100,000 inpatients, over 300,000 outpatients, over 90,000 emergency department patients. It employs more than 9,500 staff, has approximately 1,050 inpatient beds and revenue budget in excess of £540 million.

 

In May 2014 the Trust relocated the majority of its acute services to the Brunel Building, one of the most advanced hospitals in Europe offering state-of-the-art care in a beautiful and purpose built environment, designed with the patients privacy and dignity in mind.

 

This post will manage the cluster of specialties of General Surgery (including upper and lower GI, bariatric services) and Bristol Breast services, (including symptomatic and the Avon Breast Screening Service).  These services currently provide some of the largest specialist services within the region. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of high quality, clinically effective patient-focused services and the achievement of access (waiting time), activity, financial and quality targets.

 

You will be Managerially accountable for all non-nursing staff in the Specialties (102) including Consultant Medical Staff (22) who are professionally accountable to the Clinical Director.  You will be budgetary responsibility for an income of £32m the Specialties budget of £18.4m.
