An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated finance professional to join the Divisional Leadership Team of the Women and Children’s Division at North Bristol NHS Trust. This is an exciting time to join the Team with the Trust having undergone a review and restructure of its Clinical Divisions with business partners from corporate functions having joined operational and clinical colleagues as key members of the Divisional Leadership Teams.

We are looking for a dedicated and innovative self-starter to support the development and delivery of the financial plan and continue to provide high quality, forward thinking support to the Division and wider Trust as it continues to rise to its financial challenges in the coming years.

North Bristol NHS Trust is a progressive and ambitious teaching and research organisation, and a specialist regional centre for major trauma, neurosciences, plastics and burns, orthopaedics and renal services. With a turnover of £550m and 9,000 staff, our clinical teams have built a strong reputation for exceptional healthcare, personally delivered.

The Women and Children’s Division is nationally and internationally renowned for its quality, safety and outcomes. The Maternity Unit has approximately 6,500 births per year and our neonatal unit has outstanding outcomes in the recent MBRRACE Mortality Report. We have a NIHR funded strong research base and are noted for extensive research into Intrapartum Care, being the founder and host of the PROMPT Maternity Foundation.

Provision of expert accounting and business knowledge, analytical support and clear presentation of financial and business information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues will be key components. Constructive and positively challenging all aspects of directorate financial and business performance including the identification, monitoring and delivery of improvements in financial efficiency will also be expected from the role holder.

This will be a very challenging and rewarding role and will give successful applicants a very broad range of professional development and experience of all aspects of the activities of a busy teaching hospital. Successful applicants will have real scope and autonomy to shape and develop the roles themselves and this is a great opportunity for the right candidate to make a tangible and lasting contribution to the development and financial stability of the Trust.

You must be a qualified CCAB accountant with a good track record of delivering results within a large complex environment (preferably NHS but not essential) complemented by a keen interest in strategic issues. In order to ensure continued development for all members of the team across all aspects of NHS Financial Management, the Senior Leadership Team is keen to develop a number of rotational posts at all levels of which this post is likely to be one.

For informal enquiries please contact Nicky Mowatt, Director of Operational Finance – (Phone: 0117 4143768) or Karen Maxfield, Divisional Operations Director, Women and Children’s Division –
