The Specialty of Diabetes and Endocrinology within the Medicine Division is looking for an exceptional candidate to replace one of our Consultant team following retirement, to support the specialty in managing a range of routine and specialist outpatient clinics for Endocrinology and Diabetes, a general medical inpatient bed base, providing specialist inpatient opinion and taking part in the on call take rota for acute medicine.  The post holder can expect to undertake outpatient clinics including complex diabetes, diabetic foot, new patient clinic and antenatal.

The specialty manage a wide range of endocrinology patients including thyroid disease, hyperparathyroidism and disorders of calcium metabolism, pituitary disease and adrenal disorders.  The post holder will be the lead for the adrenal work within the specialty, linking closely with our colleagues in Urology.

The post holder would work closely with the existing multidisciplinary team in further implementing, modernising and supporting an integrated service for patients with diabetes.  The diabetes services are fully integrated and function as a single team, with all disciplines involved, with a very strong record in the development of innovative practice and services.  The multidisciplinary team consists of the Consultant team, Diabetes Specialist Nurses and Specialists Dietitians.

The department actively takes part in research, with research nurses, dietitian and research co-ordinator.
