Diabetes Specialist Nurse - Band 7

North Bristol NHS Trust is one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in the UK and has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full time Diabetes Specialist Nurse (Band 7) to join our rapidly expanding multi-disciplinary service.

The successful candidate will be a highly experienced nurse, with demonstrable advanced skills in managing complex diabetes patients. They will be able to make autonomous, evidence based clinical decisions and will  be able to lead by example to educate and support other health care professionals in primary and secondary care settings.

In addition to providing care in our purpose built state-of-the-art Brunel Building at Southmead Hospital; the successful applicant will have opportunities to utilise their skills in our diverse range of inpatient and outpatient services. This includes diabetes antenatal care, insulin pump therapy, young persons/ transitional services and acute diabetes emergencies. There is also a very rare opportunity to develop specialist knowledge in renal diabetes within our regional renal transplant centre, pancreatic and islet cell transplantation services.

Following induction, the post holder will have a job plan based around service requirements and will be supported by the team to fulfil on going learning objectives.
