Owing to a maternity leave, we are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our trauma orthopaedic inpatient team for 12 months. Some experience of working within this specialty preferable, although those with transferable skills will also be considered.

North Bristol NHS Trust is one of two designated major trauma centres in south west England and the service accepts a wide range of emergencies from local fractures to polytrauma, with inter professional collaboration throughout the clinical pathways. The caseloads are varied, challenging and rewarding requiring application of a wide range of therapeutic skills.

There is plenty of peer and senior support in the team, which is part of the wider occupational therapy service at North Bristol, a large teaching trust that provides a number of specialist regional services. Regular placements are provided for undergraduate students and the role may also include supervision of junior and support staff.

Development opportunities and training are available to facilitate your CPD, with quality improvement projects and service development ideas actively encouraged.

The services are based within the award winning Brunel building at Southmead Hospital which has excellent facilities. The wards have 75 single rooms, which are equipped with overhead tracking hoists and private bathrooms. Staff are also well catered for with benefits including award schemes for excellence, a staff restaurant with roof terrace, cycle centre, green spaces and wellbeing support.

Roster patterns will soon include regular weekend working to enhance services provided across the week. This post is full time but requests for part time hours will be considered. Applications are welcome from those seeking to progress from junior posts or to return to the profession after a career break, with options to join at Band 5 or 6,  depending on experience.

Informal discussion prior to considering an application is welcomed'.
