Band 8a Advanced Specialist  Pharmacist – Stroke Services

Fixed term 12 month contract with a secondment opportunity possible.

 We have an exciting opportunity to lead the  pharmacy service within our Stroke services in a new fixed term 12 month post with a secondment opportunity possible.

You will work as part of the multidisciplinary team, attending ward rounds and promoting evidence-based prescribing as part of the specialist clinical pharmacy service to stroke patient’s.

The stroke unit based at Southmead Hospital is a large and passionate multidisciplinary team working together to deliver state of the art stroke care.

Services we provide include; regional thrombectomy, thrombolysis, hyper-acute and acute stroke care and rehabilitation.

We lead the West of England’s specialised thrombectomy centre, a life-saving procedure which reverses the effects of severe strokes and also receive national investment, extra staff training, and are currently the second busiest service in the country.

The Pharmacy Department is committed to providing a high quality clinical service and improving patient safety through standard and innovative practices that supports our working patterns in the new hospital and our Trust’s objectives.

CPD and closer integration with clinical teams is actively supported through the specialist pharmacists and our non-medical prescribers.

This is a fixed term 12 month pilot ahead of BNSSG STP Stroke Services Reconfiguration (currently out for public consultation) with planned implementation earliest being October 2022.

This pilot seeks to evidence the value for patients and staff of this gold standard pharmacy provision within the stroke service and the post holder will be expected to collect expected to collect, monitor and present data to support proof of the pilot and secure further future funding.
