As part of an exciting BNSSG CCG-wide project looking at the delivery of Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) services across the locality, we are recruiting a pharmacist to lead on the development and delivery of the pharmacy elements of the service in North Bristol NHS Trust.

The position is offered either as a 12 month fixed term contract, or a 12 month secondment - available to internal or external applicants . The successful candidate will ideally need to be in a position to start in late October 2021.

As a successful candidate you will need to work collaboratively with a range of healthcare professionals both internal and external to the Trust, including community and third party providers and other acute Trusts in the locality, to develop and support a system-wide patient focused approach.

The postholder will report to the Lead Antimicrobial Pharmacist, and directly line manage the newly created position of band 6 Specialist Pharmacy Technician - OPAT, working collaboratively to develop and embed the pharmacy elements of the service and ensure these are delivered in line with relevant national legislation and standards. As part of this you will need to identify, capture and present data to demonstrate compliance with standards and other agreed metrics in relation to the project outcomes.

You will be responsible for providing the day-to-day clinical pharmacy cover to the OPAT service, attending multidisciplinary team meetings and working with the OPAT team to develop and follow clear clinical pathways for patient care and optimise patient experience. The role will also present the opportunity for the successful candidate to utilise an independent prescribing qualification if this is already held.

Applicants will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience of managing patients on antimicrobial therapies and supporting antimicrobial stewardship programmes. You will have experience of developing and delivering education and training to a wide range of healthcare professionals, patients and carers. The position will require experience of service development or project delivery, supported by excellent time and self-management skills and the ability to prioritise and manage your own and others workloads.

Interviews planned to take place 5th October.
