A challenging and rewarding opportunity has arisen to join the pharmacy team, working alongside pharmacy technicians and pharmacists as a Pharmacy Dispensary/Clinical Supervisor, forming part of our integrated dispensary and ward based team.
Duties will include:
Supervising and coordinating the Dispensary and Clinical Pharmacy / Senior Pharmacy Assistant team on a day to day basis. Assisting the Lead Pharmacy Technician in HR processes including but not limited to the early stages of sickness absence (return to work interviews) and disciplinary and competency processes (informal stages). Conducting annual appraisals for Pharmacy Assistants / Senior Pharmacy Assistants. Provide leadership and mentoring to Pharmacy Assistants / Senior Pharmacy Assistants Dispensary and Clinical Pharmacy team. Lead training and learning sessions for Pharmacy Assistants / Senior Pharmacy Assistants and students within the dispensary and those undergoing the PWDS Medicines Optimisation accreditation and provide progress reports. Dispense prescriptions in an accurate and timely manner: Processing and checking ward requisitions for controlled drugs: Providing operational support to both the dispensary and at ward level by optimising the use of medication to promote the health, wellness and disease prevention of patients. Taking Lead Role at the Ashton Gate Vaccination Centre.
There is huge scope for the successful applicant to develop new skills and to make a real difference to patients and their care.
You must be reliable, enthusiastic, self-motivated and possess good organisational and communication skills. You should have a background in pharmacy ideally within a hospital setting and have completed an NVQ Level 2 (Pharmacy Services) to include the following units: Assemble prescribed items: undertake an in-process accuracy check of assembled prescribed items prior to the final accuracy check and maintain pharmaceutical stock. You will also need to have good computer skills.
We are part of a multi-disciplinary pharmacy team which supplies medication not only to Southmead Hospital but to outside hospitals and units.
This is a key role in supporting the pharmacy service to ensure we provide the best possible care for our service users
Working hours will be within 08:00 and 19:00 7 days and includes bank holidays, however if working at Ashton Gate hours are between 07:30 – 20:00. This is a full time post working 37.5 hours per week.
Band 4 pay scale: £21,892 - £24,157 per annum for those meeting the full requirements of the post as detailed in the person specification excluding unsocial hours or overtime payments.
