An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Stroke service, which following a successful business case, is set to expand to improve response times and quality of care for patients. Additional posts for both inpatients (comprising acute and post acute/rehab) and the early supported discharge team will enable us to provide an enhanced level of service and cover weekends. There will be the opportunity to rotate within Stroke services, and possibly the wider neurosciences team which also includes neurology, neurosurgery, neuropsychiatry and the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit.
The services are based at Southmead Hospital which has excellent facilities within the new Brunel building, including therapy rooms, splint room and a large ADL kitchen. The wards have 75% single rooms, which are equipped with overhead tracking hoists, ensuite toilets and level access showers. The early supported discharge team work in the community, visiting patients in their own homes, thus car drivers are required for these posts although this is not an essential requirement for the inpatient service. Good multidisciplinary team working exists, in addition to close links with community partners.
We are seeking enthusiastic individuals, with relevant experience, who are keen to develop their specialty skills and contribute to service development. Further internal and external training and CPD opportunities are available. Regular supervision and support is provided by senior occupational therapists within the team.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
