Consultant in Colorectal Surgery

We need a consultant colorectal surgeon to join the current team of 6 colorectal surgeons. The post holder will need to be competent in emergency general surgery with a subspecialist interest in colorectal surgery, including laparoscopic colorectal surgery. North Bristol NHS Trust is one of the largest acute hospital trusts within the country with approximately 1050 beds and employing more than 9,500 staff and a revenue budget in excess of £540 million The Trust provides hospital and community healthcare to residents based within Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset of around 900,000 people. In May 2014 the Trust relocated the majority of its acute services to the Brunel Building, one of the most advanced hospitals in Europe offering state-of-the-art care in a beautiful and purpose built environment, designed with the patients privacy and dignity in mind.

In 2016/17 we carried out:
• 72,947 inpatient, day case episodes and outpatient procedures
• 84,690 people were treated in our Emergency Department
• 298,911 outpatient appointments
• 6,542 babies were born at Southmead, at home or in our Birth Centre at Cossham Hospital.ging pelvic floor disorders is desirable but not essential.

Applicants should have a CCT or be on the GMC’s Specialist Register. Applicants who are within six months of obtaining their CCT on the date of the AAC may also apply.
