An exciting opportunity has arisen within North Bristol Trust to join a team of Clinical/ Counselling Psychologists within the Medical Division, as a Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist for Chronic Illness/HIV.

The post holder will be part of the Clinical Psychology Specialty, embedded within the Medical Division, however work as part of a wider network of psychologists working across the Trust.

The role will require the individual to provide a specialist clinical psychology service to patients, carers and staff within the Medicine Division, in conjunction with other staff within the Clinical Health Psychology Service.  The successful individual will provide psychological input to individuals across the adult age range, their carers and staff, at any point in their progression through their hospital based care from initial contact through diagnosis to end of life.

The successful individual will need to manage a caseload of patients, commonly presenting with a complex mixture of long term health conditions, ensuring highly developed specialist psychological assessments are undertaken and deliver a range of highly specialist psychological interventions for individuals and carers with a variety of complex needs.  This will be across specialties including Respiratory Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology and in particular, act as the lead psychologist for HIV input.

The role is based at Southmead Hospital, Bristol.  It is a great opportunity for you to live and work in Bristol; a city in the hills of South West England, with its own thriving art, music and cultural scene hosting a number of exciting annual festivals such as the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta and the Bristol Harbour Festival.
