We all recognise the importance of creating an environment where staff can openly discuss and raise genuine concerns (including about, organisational culture, patient care, fraud, bribery) in a safe environment, and in the knowledge that their concerns will be dealt with fairly, robustly and above all, without fear of reprisal.

The Lead Freedom to Speak Up Guardian will work alongside trust leadership and a network of FTSU guardians and champions to support the organisation in creating a culture where all staff are actively encouraged and enabled to speak up safely and effectively.

The successful candidate will be passionate about making NBT a better place to work and a safer place to receive care, and will have the ability to operate independently, impartially and objectively to achieve the following outcomes:

- a culture of speaking up instilled in the organisation

- effective speaking up processes

- all staff have the capability and confidence to speak up, and managers have the tools and capability to support those speaking up

- all staff are supported appropriately when they speak up
