NORTH BRISTOL NHS TRUST

Consultant in Breast Radiology

(PART TIME, 8 PAs)

Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist with special interest in Breast with North Bristol NHS Trust, based within the Breast Care Centre.  The Bristol Breast Care Centre offers a full digital screening and symptomatic service as well as Breast MR for the screening and symptomatic services, including high risk woman as per the NHSBSP and NICE guidelines. This is the largest screening service in the South West with an eligible screening population of almost 170,000 women.  The candidate will be supporting both the screening and symptomatic services and  should demonstrate experience in breast imaging within the NHSBSP,  be skilful interpreting and performing screening and symptomatic mammograms, Tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound and biopsy, Stereocore VAB, wire localisations and Breast MRI.

The Breast Unit benefits from excellent relationships with our breast surgeons, oncologists, pathologists and cancer nurse specialists forming a strong multi-disciplinary team working approach.

The radiology department provides a wide range of diagnostic services as well as interventional radiology and nuclear medicine. General duties will include supporting the oncology cross sectional service.

The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic forward thinking team of 8 Consultant Radiologists, a Breast Clinician and a Consultant Radiographer.

The successful candidate will be employed under Terms & Conditions of Service for Consultants (England) 2003.

The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England.  The appointee will be required to reside not more than 30 minutes travel by road from Southmead Hospital, Bristol, for on-call purposes. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential.
