NORTH BRISTOL NHS TRUST& WESTON AREA HEALTH TRUST

Consultant in Breast Radiology – 2 FULL TIME POSITIONS

 (FULL TIME, 10 PAs)

Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in Breast for North Bristol NHS Trust.  There are two full time permanent positions available.

North Bristol NHS Trust

The Bristol Breast Care Centre offers a full digital screening and symptomatic service as well as Breast MR for the screening and symptomatic services, including high risk woman as per the NHSBSP and NICE guidelines. This is the largest screening service in the South West with an eligible screening population of almost 170,000 women. 

The candidate will be supporting both the screening and symptomatic services and  should demonstrate recent experience in breast imaging within the NHSBSP,  be skillful interpreting and performing screening and symptomatic mammograms, ultrasounds and biopsies, should have completed the Tomosynthesis reporting course and be confident reporting these diagnostic tests, be able to perform stereocore VAB, wire localisations and report Breast MRI. The candidate will be expected to engage in teaching and audit activities within the department.

The Breast Unit benefits from excellent relationships with our breast surgeons, oncologists, pathologists and cancer nurse specialists forming a strong multi-disciplinary team working approach.

The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic forward thinking team of 9 Consultant Radiologists, a Breast Clinician, a Consultant Radiographer and 2 trainee Consultant Radiographers.

The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential. 

From the 1st April 2020 the Breast service at North Bristol NHS Trust will expand to include the breast service based at Weston General Hospital.
