Registered Bank Mental Health Nurse, Band 5,

  • Our Mental Health Nurses work within critical areas of our Acute Service - The Emergency Department - treats people who have serious and life-threatening injuries and conditions and is a designated regional trauma centre for the south west. Patients may attend with a range of mental health conditions and works closely with the Mental Health Liaison Team
  • The Acute Medical Unit - a fast paced environment, specialising in the assessment and treatment of patients presenting with acute medical complaints, many of whom also present with complex mental health needs.
  • The MH team also work closely with the MDT on the general wards and as an RMN you will be supporting (often 1:1 nursing) complex patients with their mental health needs
  • We are currently developing group supervision for our bank RMNs to support them with their unique, challenging, but satisfying, role

        • £17.01* per hour – Week Days
        • £21.55* per hour  - Nights and Saturdays

  • You will increase your skill set by working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver all aspects of patient care, and you’ll work with consultants, junior doctors, AHPS, You will receive paid induction (up to 4 days on site induction (social distancing observed) and e-learning accessible from home). 
  • All NBTextra nurses receive free uniform
  • You will receive up to 20 hours paid supernumerary shadowing shifts working with the Mental Health Liaison team to welcome you to the Trust

  • Hold RMN registration with current NMC license to practice
  • Have relevant experience within the last 18-24 months. practice (Newly qualified staff required 15 months post qualification experience – 3 months preceptorship and 12 months appropriate experience)
  • Have a drive to work hard, enthusiasm and the ability to commit to a 4 Day induction programme if successful
  • Have Right to work in UK (with relevant Adaptation/ONP if applicable)

  • RGN with current live NMC Registration

Work Experience

Essential criteria
  • Candidate will have undertaken training for extended roles required by the ward / department. relevant to the role .
  • Candidate will have been working in an apt clinical setting

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Advanced communication skills, verbal & written, to include report writing and record keeping.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Ability to undertake shift work (flexible options available)
  • Basic computer / IT skills and expectation to develop these in line with the needs of the service i.e. IHS, Acis, Email use.
Desirable criteria
  • Candidate will have evidence of broad range of Mental Health nursing experience
