A great opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to become an invaluable part of the pharmacy porter/ receptionist team in Southmead Hospital at North Bristol NHS Trust.

You will be helping to provide a high quality, responsive, effective and efficient service to wards and departments within the hospital.

The work is varied and interesting and includes both working as part of the porter team and some reception duties.

Porter duties include the regular delivery of medication, stock requests and prescriptions to and from Pharmacy to wards and departments and there might be a need to undertake additional collections and deliveries when there is a more urgent need.

An understanding of porter service activities is desirable, however, full training will be provided.

Reception duties include dealing with the receipt of prescriptions from Outpatients and ward staff.

The role provides the point of contact for the pharmacy department. Essential to the role are good interpersonal skills, both face to face and on the telephone, as you will be dealing directly with hospital staff, members of the public, carers, service users and their families. You will need to have basic PC skills, e-mail and use of local in-house systems.

You will require a certain amount of adaptability and flexibility working within given guidelines.

The job does involve standing for long periods/ constant walking; handling and delivering heavy items to wards.

The pharmacy is open from 08:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday and 10:00 to 14:00 Saturday and Sunday. The post is a full time position of 37.5 hours per week.
